Testimonies of Healing

When I was in second grade...

From the June 1995 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I was in second grade I had a wart on the bottom of my foot. At first it didn't bother me, but soon it started to hurt. I asked my mom to pray for me, but nothing changed. We called a Christian Science practitioner for help. After a month the wart was still there.

Then I started asking my mom to teach me how to pray. I already knew the Lord's Prayer and the prayers that start, "Father-Mother God, . . ." and "Father-Mother good, ..." (see Miscellaneous Writings, p. 400). But I wanted to know more. I learned a new prayer called the "Daily Prayer," which starts, "'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin" (Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, Art. VIII, Sect. 4).

Mom and I prayed together every night and talked about listening for good thoughts from God. Sometimes I prayed even when Mom wasn't there. One day after school I saw that the wart was all gone.
