BOOK REVIEW

OPEN TO THE CONVERSATION

From the April 2007 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Simply Christian
Why Christianity Makes Sense
By N. T. Wright
256 pp. San Francisco:
HarperSan Francisco, $22.95 (hc)

AT FIRST, discovering the book Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense on the Internet felt like coming upon a small secret. But once the package arrived in the mail, the book jacket made it clear that the author, N.T. Wright, is hardly a secret—he's been interviewed on the likes of ABC News, Dateline, and National Public Radio's Fresh Air.

What made this book attract so much interest? Is it a product of the proverbial media blitz, or is there something new, something deep yet "simple" in Simply Christian? The word from this corner is that Wright, Bishop of Durham, England, and a respected historian, has cut a path accessible and often profound in his journey of exploration.
