Testimonies of Healing

Fear of death overcome

From the November 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A few years ago, I found myself experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath. I blacked out and was taken to a hospital. The medical prognosis was pulmonary embolism.
I chose to rely on the care of doctors, and went from appointment to appointment with numerous specialists, hearing at each visit that I was lucky to be alive.

I couldn’t walk for weeks and, for a few months, could do very little at all. I was told I would have to be on blood thinning medication for the rest of my life. That year I was in and out of the hospital six times, living like an invalid and a slave to medication.

I knew that sooner or later I would have to put more faith in God than in man, and more faith in spiritual healing than medicine. I began to study the Bible again, along with Science and Health, which I had not done in some time, though I attended a Christian Science church on occasion. But I lacked the faith I needed to rely entirely on God. The words made sense to me, but that wasn’t enough.I had to really understand the truth of my being as entirely spiritual.
