Testimonies of Healing

That this testimony to the power...

From the November 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

That this testimony to the power of Truth as revealed in Christian Science may help some one is my sincere desire. I shall always remember the occasion on which this religion of Love was revealed to us and with what a wealth of love we were told of God's wonderful care. Many of my misconceptions of God fell away that night. Several years passed without any open acknowledgment of the truth on my part, but the knowledge then gained never left me and has been of great value to me since.

The opportunity to learn more of Christian Science, and to borrow a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, came with the opening of a meeting room in my neighborhood. At that time I was wearing a support for hernia and had been doing so for six or more years without any hope of being able to do without it, and with the constant fear of complications; also chronic stomach disorder held me a slave to a strict diet and drugs. I had been studying the textbook only three days when the need for the support left me, and with the removal of the fear came a great sense of freedom and peace that I had not thought it possible to attain. This healing has been permanent and has left me stronger than ever. A few weeks later freedom from the stomach trouble was realized by endeavoring to take no thought for the body, as commanded by Jesus.

Other discords have been met and overcome in the family. Our children have been specially receptive to the truth, and various ailments, such as measles, colds, chicken pox, ringworm, and bowel troubles, have been speedily overcome by understanding their nothingness and endeavoring to demonstrate the allness of God. I am very grateful for freedom from the tobacco habit, to which I had been a slave more than twenty years. I had almost despaired of getting rid of it when after a talk about it to a practitioner the desire to smoke left me and has never returned.
