At the time I came to Christian Science for physical healing I was in an exceedingly nervous and despondent condition as the result of my seeming inability to obtain permanent healing. Until the truth as taught in Christian Science began to free me from my false beliefs, I had seemed to be always in bondage to some form of physical ill. Medicine and surgery having failed to give me the desired freedom, about eight years of constant dependence on osteopathy followed.
Although I knew of Christian Science and had a somewhat blind belief in it, I felt myself so dependent upon osteopathic treatments that I did not feel I could get on without them, although on two occasions I did have Christian Science treatment and received help. I know now that the seed of Truth had been sown, but I drifted along until I had lost all faith in material methods of healing and realized that my help must come from Christian Science. Through the loving, faithful work of a Christian Science practitioner there was proved in my experience the following statement from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (pp. 288, 289): "The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man's real existence as a child of God comes to light."
A spinal trouble with its many accompanying discordant conditions, believed to have resulted from an accident in early years, was completely healed, and a spinal support which had been worn for several years was discarded when treatments were begun. I was also freed from stomach trouble, recurring attacks of tonsillitis, and extreme nervousness. Glasses which had been worn from childhood were discarded.
