As it is about seventeen years since I first began the study of Christian Science I feel it is time that I sent a testimony to one of our periodicals for publication, to express my gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. It has healed me of chronic bronchial asthma. This healing took place more than nine years ago, and I have had no return of the condition. It has also healed me of frequent sick headaches, of insomnia from which I had suffered continually for five years, of chilblains and other minor ailments, and of a craving for tea to which I had been in bondage for over twenty-five years.
I am especially grateful for the healing of faults of character, and for the practical help Christian Science is to me in every detail of my life. When I first heard of it I was in a desperate state of mind, and my only comfort was the Bible, parts of which I had always loved, especially the New Testament; and in those days I often wondered why the sick were not healed now as in Jesus' time, and why my prayers were not answered.
Jesus said, "As the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." That prophecy was fulfilled in my own experience. When I read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, for the first time, it was indeed as though a glorious light had entered my consciousness; and although since then I have been through deep waters which at times threatened to overwhelm me, the beacon light of Truth has never left me, but is leading me, slowly but surely, onward and upward. — London, England.
