Testimonies of Healing

I had known of Christian Science...

From the May 1929 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I had known of Christian Science ever since I was a very little child, but was not ready to accept it until a few years ago. Only since then have I really made progress in the understanding of this great truth. It is sad that children do sometimes neglect such an opportunity, but as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 240), "Remember that mankind must sooner or later, either by suffering or by Science, be convinced of the error that is to be overcome;" and also (p. 266), "Spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth." When I was forced to depend on my own study and understanding to help me over the rough places, then I became really grateful for Christian Science, and made some advancement over what I had gained as a very small child.

I have been wonderfully protected from sickness, and, when needed, Truth has been effective in quickly restoring harmony. I have been very quickly healed of colds, tonsillitis, sprained ankles, and an ulcerated tooth. In the latter case, my jaw became locked to such an extent that I was only just able to push a crust of bread between my teeth. I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner, as I was away from home at the time and acting as swimming instructor at a camp for girls. I went on with my duties without any fear; and in two days after the work was begun the tooth was healed, and I had no more trouble. The tooth, after more than ten years, is still in place.

For all the activities of The Mother Church I am very grateful; and I have experienced great joy in being privileged to help in some of these activities. The Christian Science literature is a constant source of inspiration to me in my daily problems. I am truly glad that I have awakened to the truth of the power of God as given to the world in Christian Science by its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. —
