Testimonies of Healing

I desire to express my profound...

From the April 1934 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I desire to express my profound gratitude for many blessings which I have received over a period of twenty years through the study and application of Christian Science. It has taught me to love the Bible, and through the light shed upon its teachings by the Christian Science textbook I am learning to discern the spiritual import of the Word of God, and to apply it to my daily experiences. Mrs. Eddy has given to mankind its richest blessing through her writings and the establishing of The Mother Church with its manifold activities.

Christian Science has proved efficacious with me whenever correctly applied. One of the first healings I experienced was that of an infected foot, with approaching symptoms of blood poisoning. The condition continued for two days, becoming alarming on the third day; but after remaining awake all night studying the textbook and endeavoring to apply what I read, by morning I was relieved and could use the foot, and by the next day was completely healed. After one absent treatment by a practitioner I was also healed of a painful condition of facial neuralgia. I was visiting at the time, and was not with Christian Scientists, but one of my companions lovingly consented to telephone to a practitioner for me, and within two hours I was healed. I mention this as proof that healing through Christian Science treatment comes about because of the ever present power of God, and in no sense because of the presence of any person.

A more recent healing was that of an aggravated and painful throat trouble, accompanied by a distressing condition of the lungs. Because of work I was doing at the time, which brought me before the public, and due to the great sense of fear that overtook me, it was necessary to call a practitioner. The healing took place within ten days, and during that time I was not confined to my bed, but attended to every one of my daily duties. The practitioner advised me not to give a name to this difficulty in my own thought; that inasmuch as it had never existed in Truth, it was no part of God's creation, and therefore had no name. This was of great help to me in seeing its nothingness and bringing about the healing.
