I am thankful that my parents early taught me obedience regarding regular attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School, for many blessings have resulted from the teachings I learned to love there. Once during my high school years, I was tempted to attend services in another church part of the time; but I did not continue this arrangement because I knew I was wasting precious periods of instruction which would no longer be available to me after I reached the age of twenty.
At this time a serious ear infection was healed by Christian Science treatment. I called upon my Sunday school teacher, a registered Christian Science practitioner, to help me. This healing annulled susceptibility to hereditary deafness, and my hearing has been unimpaired ever since.
While in college, I always relied on Christian Science to help me during examinations. Frequently, required courses of study presented views of health, education, philosophy, and religion at variance with its teachings. After discussing the problem in Sunday school, I reversed each erroneous statement while studying my notes and textbooks. As a result I was able to pass examinations successfully by writing the required answers, at the same time retaining no conflicting information. Christian Science organizations at universities which I attended were a source of inspiration and guidance as well as preparation for increased branch church activity.
