Testimonies of Healing

Healing in Christian Science...

From the May 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Healing in Christian Science comes as a revelation. It is a manifestation of mental regeneration, whereby we prove that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." I experienced the truth of the above statement when Christian Science was offered me as a healing agency in a case of blood poisoning a few years after a severe operation from which my recovery was slow.

I was quite emaciated, and walked with a cane; I was obliged to go to bed at least once a month because of extreme fatigue, pain, and discomfort. A prominent physician had been consulted regularly over a period of nine months. One evening I came home exhausted and discouraged. The wound was in a bad condition, and the physician had recommended cauterization. A Christian Scientist, in whose home I was living, seeing my extreme need, lovingly offered me a Christian Science treatment. After "the scientific statement of being" from page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy had been explained to me, I went to bed. Although I was in great pain I tried to realize the truth of that statement and prayed for understanding. In a few minutes all pain disappeared, and in the morning I found that all discoloration had gone. In three days I was completely healed and normal. When I visited the physician a few days later, he could hardly believe his eyes; he said it looked to him as though the wound had been healed for months.

Other healings followed quickly; smoking and social drinking, also fatigue were overcome; I seemed born anew. I gained in weight, and in the power of endurance; business became more active, all due to a humble acceptance of Mrs. Eddy's revelation of Christian Science in this age. The Bible became a book to be studied daily, whereas previously I had no desire even to own one. God became known to me as Life, Truth, and Love, earnestly to be sought; and I began to see that man is God's reflection, hence eternally inseparable from Him.
