Testimonies of Healing

My introduction to Christian Science...

From the November 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My introduction to Christian Science was through attending a session of the Sunday School. I was invited to go with a playmate who was a regular pupil. Permission from my parents to go with this little girl came only after much persuasion on my part. My mother finally said I might go just once, but not to ask again. I loved everything I heard, and soon bought a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Because of semi-invalidism, which kept me home from school many months of each term, and because of my growing interest in Christian Science. I was sent away to a boarding school. While there I read each evening from the textbook. In spite of the fact that the friends I made at this school criticized Christian Science and poked fun at me, I continued to read and love the truth. Several healings came as a result of this reading. One was of astigmatism, supposed to be inherited. I wore thick eyeglasses. One day they fell off and broke, and in order to get them repaired, I had to send them back to the oculist near my home. I went right on with my studies and reading, experiencing no difficulty, and I never took the glasses out of the shipping box when they were returned. Another healing that took place at this school was my maturity into womanhood which physicians had told my parents could never come about.

A healing of chapped hands made more impression on me at that time than these other healings. I was determined that this difficulty, which became aggravated to the extent of bleeding, should be healed by spiritual means, without my using any hand lotions as the other girls were doing. The condition lasted for a few days and then suddenly disappeared. When I returned 'home from boarding school I became a pupil in the Christian Science Sunday School, and never missed a Sunday as long as I was eligible to attend.
