HE ANSWERED MANKIND'S UNANSWERED QUESTION

From the December 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Scientific Research Board of the United States has recommended an annual expenditure by this country of two billion dollars for research in physical science. It is hoped this research will find answers to questions relating to physical forces and material phenomena, answers which will serve the nation's good.

Centuries of human history pass, generations of mortals come and go, many earnest men and women devote their lives to trying to find the answers to questions deemed pertinent to human development, and all the while the human race in general continues in pitiable ignorance of the answer to life's basic, incomparable question, "What is God?" But until the answer is found, life remains a mystery and man's destiny an enigma.

Most men believe there is a God; many worship a God whose nature they do not know. But believing that God is, is not understanding what God is.
