Acceptance

From the May 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Accepting good is such a simple thing,
And yet how long and stubbornly we cling
To mortal thoughts and human reasoning.

"But it has always been like that," we say,
Forgetting that there is a better way
As yet untried or toyed with timidly.

But it is never right to tolerate
As natural the poor and second-rate
When God's resourcefulness is infinite.

And life would be so different if we would
Accept and use in all its amplitude
His open storehouse of abundant good.
