Quite a number of years before I became interested in Christian Science, I was prejudiced against Mrs. Eddy; and after taking up the study of this Science, I thought Christian Scientists made too much of her personality.

A few years later, when I went to a communion service in The Mother Church, a telegram was read from the desk asking all those who would like to hear Mrs. Eddy speak to come to Pleasant View the following Tuesday. It never occurred to me not to go.

Several thousand persons were there, and we waited opposite the house until the gates were opened. Then we went into the grounds and gathered under the second-floor balcony. We sang the hymn from Mrs. Eddy's poem "Feed My Sheep" (Poems, p. 14). Then Mrs. Eddy walked out to the corner of the balcony with outstretched arms and a sweet smile on her face, and you felt she was enfolding the whole world. This is the scene that we have in the photograph of her on the balcony, which was taken that day. She spoke for only a few minutes, and you all know what she said. But I should like to give it to you:
