"Loved Christmas"

From the December 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1900 Mary Baker Eddy wrote, "Again loved Christmas is here, full of divine benedictions and crowned with the dearest memories in human history—the earthly advent and nativity of our Lord and Master." The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 256;

At this sixty-seventh Christmas since those words were written, Christian Scientists rejoice in an increasing understanding of the nativity of Christ Jesus, the appearing of him who taught God's design of peace for all His children. Each year repeats the song of the heavenly host, "On earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:14; More and more clearly this message is heard above the violence and confusion that marks human resistance to the emergence of Christ, the divine ideal, with its demand for peace and universal goodwill.

Year after year Christian Scientists have prayed for the world's recognition that Christ is universal Truth and that all men are in reality the Father's spiritual family, dwelling in harmony under one divine Principle, Love. Christian Science denies the physical senses as false and unreal because they describe man as a mortal, driven by divisive influences, disturbed by diseases, and facing certain death. The Scientist is grateful for the gift of Christ, the true idea of sonship, which Jesus demonstrated for all mankind to see and emulate.
