The meeting opened with the singing of Hymn No. 161, the words of which are by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. The chairman, Wilson Morgan Riley, Trustee of The Christian Science Publishing Society, read selections from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy. Silent prayer was followed by the audible repetition of the Lord's Prayer. A letter of greeting from the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society was read by the chairman.

A warm welcome is extended to you who have come to share in the Periodicals Meeting. As we move further into the second century of Christian Science, one of the greatest challenges is how to reach the world more effectively through our periodicals. The way to meet this great challenge is something we need to ponder most earnestly.
