Poems

To identify rightly

From the July 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A transparency, you say?
That's for mortal mind
to become more and more of
until it disappears.

God made you!—not
a pane through which
the light of Truth can shine:

outcome, emanation, idea, reflection—
the light itself is what you are.

As you perceive the real you that God
creates and loves,
mortal thought becomes less opaque—
hiding less and less the light
you are

". . . light of the world," as Jesus said,
the light that when you know you have it—
when you know you are it—
heals.
