"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law" (Gal. 5:22, 23).
According to my mother, before I was old enough to remember, I was healed of scarlet fever and pneumonia with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, that wonderful book Science and Health, and the friend who had introduced us to Christian Science. During my growing-up years I was gently led to search for my own answers through a better understanding of God. Healings that occurred then are strengthening me still today.
Christian Science Sunday School was a place where I found many answers. When I was experiencing the teen years and entering the working world, however, there appeared to be a time of confusion that led me to investigate smoking and drinking and some lax morals that were not compatible with what I had already proved to be very reliable and satisfying. During this time I had an experience that was a turning point for me.
