Helmet? Check. Gloves? Check. Right motives? Check.

One of my favorite recreational activities is riding motorcycles of all types, but mostly sportbikes. The latest models are capable of extreme speeds (over 160 miles per hour) and very high performance. I ride them on the street, and also race them at tracks designed for this purpose.

One weekend a few years ago, some friends and I took our bikes to a racetrack in Spokane, Washington, for a couple of “trackdays.” Trackdays allow enthusiasts to ride on a racetrack, in a controlled environment, to work on their riding skills and experience high-speed fun without the risks encountered on public highways.
