I have postponed the writing of my testimony, feeling that I could not do justice to the truth or make one understand who had not learned to avail himself of God's mighty power to heal the sick. I had been very miserable for years; was a great sufferer from asthma for about thirty years. I tried every kind of medicine, but with no lasting benefit. The doctors advised my husband to take me to California, and he did; but the climate did not cure me. I seemed to get better at first, but soon suffered from a general breakdown.
When Christian Science was brought to me I was past all material help; I had heart trouble, for which I was taking medicine every fifteen minutes, also a stomach disorder so bad that I could not eat without great distress. At that time I was much prejudiced against Christian Science, but when the doctors told my husband that they could do no more for me and that he could expect my death at any time, I then turned to Christian Science. After the first treatment I never had another sinking-spell, and it is now nine years. I have been able to eat anything I wish without the least bad effect, and my numerous ailments have disappeared.
I am very thankful for this, and I want to mention one more great demonstration which was made for us in Christian Science. My husband had his shoulder so badly injured that his arm was paralyzed, and after the doctors had done all they could they told him he never would be able to use his arm again; but, thank God, it was not so. He was treated for it at the same time that I was taking treatment, he was prejudiced against Christian Science at that time, but that did not prevent the truth from doing the good work. His arm was restored to him whole in two treatments, and he has used it ever since just as well as he ever did. My healing was slow in some respects, but I think it was best so, for it has made me study for myself, and now I see the Bible in a clearer light than ever before.
