Gratitude to God, and to His messenger to this age, impels me to write my testimony to the healing and redemptive power of Truth, as presented to mankind in the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Seven years ago, after having been for years under the treatment of the kindest of doctors in different parts of the world, having undergone a severe operation for internal disorders, which only served to allay painful symptoms temporarily, I was healed by the reading of Science and Health.
Shortly after this my five-year-old boy, who had suffered various operations under medical treatment for a condition of poisoning contracted at birth, the operations only relieving the disease for a short period each time, was absolutely healed, after two months' treatment in Christian Science. The specialist who treated the child told me that this was a very peculiar case, there being very few like it known to materia medica. He assured me that although the boy might at times be relieved by surgery, there was no permanent cure for this disease. The surgeon who last operated on the child, before his treatment in Christian Science began, said he had not benefited him permanently, but had only temporarily relieved him, and it was at this time that we turned to the "great Physician" and found healing. He is now a strong boy, twelve years of age, and has never had a return of the trouble.
These proofs of the power of God to heal disease caused me to investigate the Science more thoroughly, and on learning that it presented a Principle and that the understanding of this Principle unfolds the demonstrations of Life as ever operative, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient; that man is spiritual and not material, governed by and subject to the divine powers that be, the laws of God, good, I realized this to be indeed the "pearl of great price." My gratitude to our Leader is unbounded; I wish to express my thankfulness for her clear and concise teachings, and for all the loving help I have received from coworkers and from our publications.
