For over twenty-eight years now, I have been a student of Christian Science. I have had many proofs of God's presence and power and the absolute practicality of Science during these years. My gratitude for Christ Jesus and for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, is such that I readily accept every opportunity to serve this great Cause, knowing only too well that I can never fully repay the many blessings that have come to me. I am also grateful for many years of activity in church work, and for the wonderful privilege of class instruction.
"In some way, sooner or later, all must rise superior to materiality, and suffering is oft the divine agent in this elevation." This statement on page 444 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, has special significance with respect to my sharing in the blessings of Christian Science.
I spent many weary years under medical care, swallowing quantities of medicines for anemia, indigestion, constipation, nervous prostration, and other maladies. Operations were suggested for gallbladder trouble and appendicitis, and a complete rest cure was recommended for a tubercular condition. The doctors believed that my case was chronic and that I would never be well.
