Questions & Answers

How can I prayerfully support members put off by other Bible translations?

From the February 2013 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Q: Several members of our church do not attend on Sundays when the Lesson-Sermon includes a translation other than the King James Bible. They attend on Wednesday evenings and are very wonderful workers for our church. How can I address this issue prayerfully?

A: I love that you want to go to God in prayer over this issue, because God always leads to what unifies us.

As I’ve prayed about the occasional use of Bible translations other than the King James Version in the Golden Text and the Responsive Reading of the Christian Science Bible Lessons, I’ve been led to consider the larger picture—the unchanging role the inspired Word of the Bible plays in our church.
