Am I receptive to healing?

From The Christian Science Journal - October 10, 2012

This is a question that I find helpful to ask myself sometimes. When I’m tempted to reply too quickly, “Of course,” I think again. Do I really know that healing through prayer in Christian Science is inevitable? Am I expecting healing?

Receptivity to healing is essential in the practice of Christian Science, because spiritual healing is experienced when the human mind by its own consent yields to Truth (see Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pp. 151–152). Mrs. Eddy goes on to discuss in this book the spiritual fact of being—that man is not material at all, but is the compound idea of God fully representing Him.

Healing comes through a realization of one’s spiritual identity and eternal perfection as a child of God. As we grasp this truth, material selfhood and the problems that go with it lose their reality in our thinking, and our experience conforms to our improved thought.
