I have always drawn a great sense of comfort from Psalm 23 along with the spiritual sense Mary Baker Eddy gives in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, mainly because they offer the assurance that God, the Father of us all, not only loves us with all His power, but also feeds and supplies us with all we need. It reads in part: “[Divine Love] is my shepherd; I shall not want. [Love] maketh me to lie down in green pastures: [Love] leadeth me beside the still waters” (Science and Health, pg. 578).
God has been speaking for centuries to us through the voice of the prophets and through Christ Jesus, and in many citations in the Bible we find evidence that God cares for us. “Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine” (Isaiah 43:1). “I have loved thee with an everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3). “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom” (Luke 12:32).
As we read in Genesis, God created us in His image and likeness to express Him. Would He allow His own expression to lack what is necessary to manifest His glory?
