Loving the 'difficult' person

From The Christian Science Journal - August 13, 2012

OK, so, your day is going great. You’re feeling chipper—uplifted. You’ve got friends, family, or colleagues around you pulling together for the common good.

Then “you-know-who” walks in. Uh-oh. Here comes the tyrannical boss, the rude relative, the bully neighbor across the street—or maybe the bully’s mother!

You know you should love everyone, as the Bible demands, but you can just feel your inspiration fizzle. Ignoring the person doesn’t seem right. One’s Christianity—the ability to love as God loves—loses its luster if it becomes conditional at any moment. We ourselves certainly wouldn’t want to be considered “unlovable.” Nor could we imagine a day without love in our lives, a day without consideration, tenderness, compassion, understanding—all qualities of the one God, infinite Love.
