Prayer about loss and robbery

From The Christian Science Journal - May 22, 2014

Originally written in Portuguese, this article first appeared on JSH-Online.com in the Portuguese, French, German, and Spanish editions of The Herald of Christian Science.

One evening, while attending a Wednesday testimony meeting at the Christian Science branch church of which I am a member, I heard a woman share a testimony about when she was at a concert with her nephew, and she suddenly noticed that her wallet was missing. Because the boy was having a good time, and she didn’t want to stop him from enjoying the concert, she decided to look for the wallet after the concert ended.

The woman stayed calm by praying with ideas about the constant presence of God’s harmony and good. When the concert ended, she went back to the places where she had been. An employee of the concert hall had found the wallet and returned it to her.

As a result of her sharing this testimony, a man, who is also a member of our branch church and had lost his wallet a few days earlier, felt renewed hope. This man continued to pray, acknowledging that honesty and a desire to help our fellow man are inherent qualities of all men, women, and children.
