Testimonies of Healing

From the March 1905 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I can scarcely find words adequate to express my gratitude for Christian Science and what it is to me. It has lifted me out of the depths. It has benefited me morally, mentally, and physically. It has enabled me to read the Bible with understanding, and to realize that "God is Love." It has enabled me to overcome many financial difficulties and to realize that "God is the source of our supply." Five years ago I was a mental and physical wreck, having had one operation performed by a late prominent physician of Brooklyn, who told me that I could not go through the summer without having another very serious and expensive operation. I was not in a position financially to have the operation performed, and came home from the doctor's office well-nigh distracted. Then my brother, who was a metaphysician at the time, undertook to treat me. I improved somewhat, but was far from being well. A short time after this my brother, who was conscious of the lack of spirituality in his mental method, looked into Christian Science and became a firm believer in it. He persuaded my mother, sister, my husband, and myself to attend the church and to read Science and Health, but like a great many others we thought he was laboring under a delusion. He had a very hard time with us, but he persevered and finally conquered, for which I can never be grateful enough to him, as we are now firm believers in this great truth.

I have been made a new woman,—Christian Science having opened up a new life to me. It has also met many ailments of my little ones, such as membranous croup, measles, hives, abscess in the ear, and other troubles. One case which I would like to specify was an attack of croup. My little boy awakened one night with a terrible choking, and as I manifested considerable fear, I called to my brother for assistance. He came to the room and declared the truth, and my fear vanished and the little one was soon sleeping peacefully. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." What a wonderful impression those words made upon me that night. They were indeed a revelation.

Each demonstration of divine Love's protection makes our faith in God and in Christian Science stronger, and the knowledge that if we put our trust in Him we have nothing to fear, brings us perfect happiness.
