It is with a heart full of gratitude to our dear Leader that I write this testimony. I first learned of Christian Science more than ten years ago, through a very dear friend who lent me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When I came to Christian Science, it was not for physical, but for mental healing. For years I had been trying to find a God that would help me. My home life was full of discord and unhappiness, and I had reached a point where it seemed as though I would go insane. I had recently moved into a new neighborhood, and one day a lady from an adjoining neighborhood came to call on me. I am of Mexican birth, and she said that she had come to ask me some questions about Mexico. I know now that, so far as I was concerned, she came in answer to prayer, and to show me the way to a God who is Love, and who is a very present help in time of trouble.
I have had many healings, both physical and mental, and have also been helped financially. One case of healing was of ptomaine poisoning, and it was instantaneous. I have also been healed of burns and neuritis. For years I had suffered a great deal with a rupture, but after I started to read Science and Health it left me.
I am very grateful to Mrs. Eddy for being pure-minded enough to receive this revelation of divine Science, and for giving us our textbook. I am grateful for the Manual of The Mother Church, for the Board of Directors, for the literature; and for all the activities of the movement, I am truly grateful.— Gardiner, Maine.
