HEAVENLY SPIRIT

From the March 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Heavenly Spirit, holy light,
Shining through this mortal night!
Lead me from all low desires,
Fill my heart with noble fires,
Guide my steps aright!

Heavenly Spirit, sacred balm,
Hold the tempest with Thy calm!
Hush the sobs and bitter tears,
Broken hopes and trembling fears;
Keep me from all harm!

Heavenly Spirit, judge and friend,
All my human planning end!
Let me walk unbound and free,
Asking naught but faith in Thee,
Rest, which Thou dost send!
