[Written for the Journal]

SONG

From the June 1928 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Unfold thy wings!
Send thought forever soaring
Above this sense of things.
The heart that lifts and sings
Is not for unearned joy imploring.

Stretch out thy wings!
Love's work is ever calling:
Oh, speed thee on thy way,
And prove again to-day
That man is perfect, never falling.

Spread wide thy wings!
And higher, higher flying,
Lift up thy thought of Love
Error's dark cloud above—
Safe on His gracious will relying!

Soar on thy wings!
So, on faith's upward pinion,
Arise and still arise
O'er all the dust of lies.
God gave thee thy dominion;
Gave thee thy wings!
