GOD governs His universe harmoniously, and maintains it in its perfection by means of unvarying law, thus meeting its every need every moment. It is our business so to clarify and purify our thought that we may be receptive to, recognize, and consciously express the harmony of God's government and provision in every activity of every day.
Business, to be successful, must be God-governed. This applies to all legitimate business, be it that of an individual, a state, a nation, or a group of nations. And many are learning through Christian Science that, to be fruitful, the activity of business must be brought into harmony with divine Principle. And today nations are coming to recognize that they must seek their own blessings through their willingness to bless others.
A fundamental law, one which is coming to be more widely recognized as a basis for the ethics of successful business practice, is the Golden Rule —doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. Fair dealing, the active operation of this rule, is helping to do away with many evils in business. Dishonesty, unfair competition, greed, hate, jealousy, envy, find no opportunity or room for expression where unselfed service, honesty, fair valuations, generosity, kindness, and trust hold sway. Joy in our neighbor's progress, be he fellow employee or competitor, opens the door to greater blessings for ourselves.
