SUBMISSION

From the June 1932 issue of The Christian Science Journal

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE teaches one to differentiate between submission to man-made decrees, which lead to human subjection, and submission to spiritual law, which establishes harmony and dominion. Instead of submitting to the discord of sickness and sin, the Christian Scientist submits himself, with all his aims and desires, to God's compelling law of spiritual perfection, harmony, and immortality.

"Through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee." Materialism, the enemy of health, beauty of character, happiness, is opposed to Spirit, God, and is therefore inherently powerless. Christian Science causes the impotence of error to be self-seen, self-confessed. This is the right submission, which leads to victory over the senses, through compliance with the demands of divine Principle.

Submission to the decrees of God necessitates rising in rebellion against the decrees of so-called mortal mind, or the belief of mind in matter. It is a mental rising, a holy ascent into pure consciousness, where intelligence is supreme and spiritual law is in full control.
