GOD ALONE

From the April 1935 issue of The Christian Science Journal

HUMAN efforts have been made throughout all time to ban, or lessen, that which brings a troubled sense to the human consciousness. Truly the Science most valuable to mankind is the Science of Christ, or Christian Science, which enables humanity to free itself from the fears and troubles that beset mortal existence.

Christian Science does not ignore the sense of inharmony with which human beings are faced. On the contrary it shows how this inharmony— this seeming dissociation of ourselves from infinite good—can be corrected through spiritual understanding. Through the scientific application of the truth humanity can go free, unfettered by the allurements and tendencies of that which would deceive and bring disturbance to human thought. So humanity can become more fully conscious that good alone is real and eternally present. What a glorious prospect is this: "The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea"!

How can we individually avail ourselves of this Science for our own and humanity's benefit? First of all, by endeavoring to let our thinking conform to the right ideas of God, Truth and Love, from which everything real emanates. Conjectures, mere guessings at the truth, will not suffice.
