MY ALL

From the May 1939 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Whosoever layeth his earthly all on the altar of divine Science, drinketh of Christ's cup now, and is endued with the spirit and power of Christian healing."—Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, page 55.

The midnight hour! So still the night!
As thought lies prostrate, not a light
In heaven appears, to hold at bay
The dark; while mute, benumbed, I lay
My all upon the altar site.

The midnight hour has passed, and lo!
Beyond the rim of earth a bow
Of promise heralds coming day.
Hope stirs and, multiplying ray
On ray, I feel my courage grow.

Comes dawn! A warm, symbolic shower
Of Love—of understanding's power.
My all, I see by His pure light,
Lies not upon that altar site—
With Love there is no midnight hour.

In God's completeness—all is done.
And I am heir, His child, a son
Of changeless Life—naught left to heal,
For good alone is here, is real—
The altogether lovely One!
