CONTINUITY OF CHURCH BUILDING

From the November 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

During the period of establishing a Christian Science branch church and the building of its edifice, there is much fervor, devotion to purpose, and co-operative enthusiasm expressed by the members. Frequently meetings of church members are held in which discussions of the spiritual significance of "Church" serve as the fulcrum upon which the lever of ways and means may rest.

Through the inspiration gained in such meetings, many have been aided individually in experiencing the physical evidence of supply, and have thus been enabled to contribute freely to the building fund of the church.

On page 583 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy defines "Church" in part as "the structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from divine Principle." She further defines it as "that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race." This definition helps the conscientious student to maintain a proper view of church building.
