The beloved disciple John tells us that "God is love." Love is the infinite Giver. Through understanding that Love is Spirit we see that the good which Love imparts must be spiritual. Love is benevolently and continuously pouring forth unlimited abundance for the benefit of His perfect spiritual creation.
The question immediately arises, Does this absolute understanding of perfect God and perfectly supplied spiritual man help us in meeting the need for human comfort, safety, and supply? The experience of Christian Scientists adequately answers this question. They have proved and are demonstrating daily that in proportion as the spiritual, eternal, real man is understood, the human concept of life becomes fuller, freer, healthier, happier, more abundant in every way.
In a sentence which begins at the bottom of page 476 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Mary Baker Eddy tells us just how Jesus met the human need for healing and comfort. He beheld the spiritual man, to whom Love had given health, supply, harmony, freedom, and immortality; and he knew that God's perfect likeness expresses all the good which Love has bestowed upon him. This ability of our Master to see the complete, God-equipped man, instead of a distressed mortal, enabled him to bring about instantaneous healings throughout his ministry.
