REFLECTION

From the June 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 23): "Few there are who comprehend what Christian Science means by the word reflection. God is seen only in that which reflects good. Life, Truth, Love—yea, which manifests all His attributes and power, even as the human likeness thrown upon the mirror repeats precisely the looks and actions of the object in front of it."

Practical application of Christian Science is dependent on, and limited only by, our understanding of it, and it is therefore vitally important that we should by prayer and study strive to gain a comprehension of this scientific teaching.

The Bible clearly shows that throughout the ages God has progressively revealed His laws to men. In the Old Testament there are direct commands which, if analyzed, always lead to divine law. Consider for instance the exhortation, "Fear not," which occurs many times in the Old Testament, coming to God's people individually or collectively when the evidence before material sense threatened to disturb their trust and loyalty.
