PROTECTION IN REFLECTION

From the January 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The fact that man is eternal Mind's reflection assures us now of God's absolute protection. This vital spiritual fact Christian Science enables us to understand.

The use by Mary Baker Eddy of the word "reflection" to define man is an important departure from earlier usage. The favor with which she regarded this word, judged by her frequent use of it, should be an incentive to all students of Christian Science to seek an ever clearer understanding of its meaning.

The reflection of the landscape in a lake, the reflection of one's face in a mirror, are not wholly comparable to the spiritual truth that man is the reflection of God, though they hint something of the nature of this important spiritual verity.
