Poems

Day

From the May 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There was a time when what I thought was day
Was filled with burdened hours of weariness
Holding a heavy weight of arduous tasks
Unlightened and unsolved—nor ever less.

And then I learned to know what God's day is—
Timeless, unfolding, bringing joy and peace.
In this enlightenment no darkness dwells;
Within this calmness all confusions cease.
