This testimony is given with a loving desire to glorify God and to encourage other seekers for the light.
When I was almost ready to graduate from a midwestern high school, misfortune and poverty befell our home and caused my health to fail. A kind friend sent me to a Christian Science practitioner, whose work during the summer gradually restored my usual vigor, and in the autumn I was permitted to make up the six weeks' work and to receive a diploma with honors.
The understanding and courage derived from attendance at a Christian Science Sunday School, together with the love and fellowship of friends who were also students of this Science, enabled me to work my way through normal school. It is not easy to put into words the comfort and inspiration I received from the study of our beloved textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, when, in extreme youth, I was called upon to make important decisions. During subsequent years, as marriage and motherhood brought me new responsibilities, my childlike faith in God's great goodness unfolded increasing proofs of His ceaseless care.
