DOMINION OVER LACK

From the November 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is evident from the Scriptural record that Christ Jesus did not urge men to be resigned to poverty. The instances in which the needs for food and supply were met all indicate that Jesus demonstrated dominion over lack to the same degree as over other forms of evil.

This dominion, based on man's inseparability from God, good, is the glad tidings which Christian Science presents to this age. This Science teaches that the real man and the real universe are entirely spiritual, not dependent on matter for expression, maintenance, or identity.

The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, gives this definition of man in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 591): "Man. The compound idea of infinite Spirit; the spiritual image and likeness of God; the full representation of Mind."
