MAN'S SONSHIP WITH GOD

From the March 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What did Christ Jesus know that enabled him to heal the sick and raise the dead? Christian Science teaches that Jesus understood that matter has no life and intelligence and that God, good, is all-inclusive. If we would demonstrate Christian Science, we too must know the unreality of matter and the allness of Spirit.

When we accept the actuality and all-inclusiveness of good as the spiritual fact of being, we can declare with Jesus (John 10:30), "I and my Father are one." This spiritual fact of man's unity with God as His reflection maintained in consciousness awakens us to the things of Spirit. Thus the human experience becomes more and more harmonious as we recognize the scientific unity between God and man.

A dictionary tells us that "unity" is the "state of being one; ... singleness." Unity implies completeness, wholeness, allness, indivisibility. In unity there is no divergence, just oneness. In the unity or coexistence of God and man there is no obstruction, no interference, no resistance, no separation, no belief in a selfhood apart from God.
