LOVE'S DIVINE ENVIRONMENT

From the August 1959 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Resting at the edge of a busy outdoor market place one sunny morning, a student of Christian Science was suddenly filled with gratitude for the hint of God's glory mirrored in the scene before her— the beauty of color, the rhythmic activity, the harmonious order and continuity of movement.

All at once her pattern of thought was sharply interrupted, for nearby a loud, impatient voice was expressing emphatic disgust with the whole picture! To this person, evidently, all that came to view were crowded shopping conditions, tiresome duties, and perhaps loss of time and energy.

How true it is, thought the student, that each one has his own concept of his surroundings, such a concept being entirely individual and the objectification of what he accepts as his consciousness. With this realization, the student thought of what a wonderful opportunity the Christian Scientist has so to illumine and purify consciousness with divine Love that nothing but beauty, order, and grandeur may be apparent in his environment!
