A SENSE OF ADVENTURE

From the November 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 107), "In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science."

What a privilege is ours to know something of that stupendous discovery that reached mankind almost one hundred years ago! At present relatively few people appreciate the vast import of this discovery, but future ages will regard it as a great turning point in history. It will be understood as the dawn of a new era, for it unfolds the very Science of existence—the demonstrable facts regarding God, man, and the universe. As we begin to grasp the magnitude of Christian Science, we see that we are embarked upon the greatest adventure of all time. We have begun to explore the relatively unknown and unfrequented areas of spiritual being.

The real man's capacities are unlimited. What an adventure to see how far we can go in proving this—in working out the problem of being and in unlocking the potentialities that are only waiting to be understood and utilized! The discoveries and explorations of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries are but pale shadows of those of our present day and the wonderful fullness of true satisfaction and accomplishment which awaits but our persistent and consecrated efforts.
