SATISFIED

From the July 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Truth is God. It is changeless and perfect. Our experience evidences Truth according to God's law as we overcome the errors which declare imperfection —discord, disease, mortality, limitation— as our outlook changes and our thinking and our living come more and more into line with the expression of perfect Truth. If at any time we become satisfied with the mortal scene before attaining perfection, we may be separating ourselves from God's law. In so doing, we lose the power to utilize that law in the healing of the sick.

On page 233 of Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy writes: "Every day makes its demands upon us for higher proofs rather than professions of Christian power. These proofs consist solely in the destruction of sin, sickness, and death by the power of Spirit, as Jesus destroyed them. This is an element of progress, and progress is the law of God, whose law demands of us only what we can certainly fulfil."

As Christian Scientists, our goal is not mere material security or a body without disease or a home without discord. Our goal is the full realization of Truth, the demonstration of the fact of one infinite Mind and the universe peopled with ideas of that Mind. This goal is to be gained through Spirit, never through matter.
