It is now almost sixteen years since a physical healing brought my family into Christian Science. I was suffering from a disease that centered itself in my legs, making walking very painful and difficult. After much medical treatment as well as some hospitalization, I was advised that I would always walk with a limp and have some pain. Due to the love and patience, as well as persistence, of a distant relative who is a Christian Scientist, my wife and I were led to read a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The book was a revelation to us, especially the first chapter, which is on Prayer.
Shortly thereafter we began to attend services at a nearby Church of Christ, Scientist. I do not know just when my healing took place, but within a few months I was walking normally without pain, and certainly my disposition had improved. Then, when I really wanted to join the church, the desire for tobacco and alcohol left at the moment when I decided that joining The Mother Church and a branch church was more important and necessary than smoking or drinking.
The above experiences were only the beginning of an unfoldment of good that has never abated. We have, as a family, relied only on Christian Science since that time and have had many healings, for which we are most grateful. Christian Science has become a way of life for us, and we have proven its efficacy in every phase of our living. Some time after the above healings, while serving as Second Reader, I felt the need to make a change in employment. For a long time I searched through material means and was unsuccessful.
