The Connection

From the November 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many of us, at some time or other, have yearned to become the close friend of some very influential and powerful individual— a good connection—who could help us realize our dreams, fulfill our ambitions, and secure enviable positions. This benefactor would treat us and protect us as one would a favorite son.

It is sometimes possible to secure such a valuable connection. But what price must we pay to achieve this? Will the relationship really work for us in time of need?

It is not only possible but natural for us to have good connections and to form mutually advantageous friendships. However, one needs something more to pin his faith and trust upon than merely another fallible human being. To demonstrate the availability of good in his daily experience, he needs, first of all, to spiritualize his concept of what constitutes a good connection.
