Integrity and brotherly love

From the September 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Viewed metaphysically, integrity demands that we see ourselves and others from the standpoint of Truth as spiritual ideas of God. To identify man as an imperfect mortal opposes divine law. God, infinite Principle, the only real cause, created man in His own image—good, upright, and complete.

In reality this perfect manhood describes everyone. As we see our fellow beings in this light we will love them more and be able to correct whatever inharmonious conditions appear humanly. Recognizing in others the true, spiritual nature that evidences Christ and refusing to see our neighbor imperfectly from a material standpoint, we will express a brotherly love that brings spiritual regeneration and healing. This is the message of Christian Science.

True integrity, which emanates from Truth and Love, enables us to overcome the many forms of hatred and indifference. When erroneous mortal thinking is corrected by scientific spiritual understanding, we prove that harmony is real and discord is unreal. This scientific correction restores the body, unifies friends, pacifies troubled situations, and demonstrates the omnipotence and omnipresence of infinite good. It cultivates an unselfish affection that is important in healing.
