General Information

From the September 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A new publication, "Listing of Organ Music," provides titles of music appropriate for Christian Science services. Designed to help church organists, pianists, and music committees improve the quality and variety of their music, each title has suggestions for its use in the service as well as an indication of relative musical difficulty. A list of suitable piano compositions is included, and publishers of both organ and piano pieces are given. Price is $2.50.

Another helpful reference is the "Compilation of Solos," which indicates musical difficulty and vocal range, as well as publishers. Price is $1.50.

"Workshop in Reading Aloud," already used by many Readers, is still available in two separate cassette sets. Set I, consisting of 11 tapes, deals with the mechanics of reading—phrasing, emphasis, pronunciation, and tempo. Key themes on Set II are developing good technique, dealing with criticism, and expressing spontaneity. Set I costs $25; Set II (two tapes only), $6. There is a new German cassette "Workshop in Reading Aloud," a translation of the first tape in Set II, selling for $10.
